The 2011 National Peanut Festival will be held November 4-13 at the fairgrounds in Dothan, Ala. The National Peanut Festival — the nation's largest peanut festival — is held each fall to honor peanut growers and to celebrate the harvest season. The fairgrounds are located on Highway 231 South. The festivities include numerous fun-filled family events, such as amusement rides, animal acts, agricultural displays, live music concerts, beauty pageants, arts & crafts displays, contests, food, a two-hour parade, of course, tons of peanuts!
In addition to the regular festival events, the NPF features a full slate of livestock shows, including an International Boer Goat Association-sanctioned Boer goat show. Show judge is Jason Brashear. For more information about the Boer show, contact Nelson Adams at 334-684-3069 or visit www.nationalpeanutfestival.com.
